June 13

Well The Boy wrote about (click here to visit his blog and see what he wrote) what I didn't seem able to write about this day. Three years ago today my brother died and a part of me died with him. (I get annoyed when people say they "lost" someone. What, did they misplace him?). Yeah, I am surviving and moving on and enjoying my life and my family, but it would sure be better with him in our lives and still around us.

Thanks to The Boy for writing how we all feel and for his touching reminder of who his uncle was and what he meant and continues to mean to all of us. He was, in fact, a warrior prince and one of these days we need to build a statue.

You have written and spoken of your brother with a great deal of love. I did not know him at all well but appreciate how you felt, and still feel, about him. I know you don't like the term "lost" but I have to say that there are multiple definitions for that word and it seems appropriate. When you miss someone like Bill who has meant so much to you it is indeed an enduring loss that you sadly must bear.

Thank you for the kind thoughts and making me feel better about using the word "lost" in the future. I think you are correct. Of course your officemate said it all better than I did and hopefully he will get over the loss better than me.

Speaking of the office, we need to do a better job or running the company as The Office. I annoint you the Assistant to the Manager and bestow on you all the rights and obligations the title implies.
